The Extra Mile!

Happy Hump Day!

The Live Healthy Illinois 100-Day Challenge is in full swing at mi casa...and's tough getting into healthy habits! I like to think I live a "healthy lifestyle" for the most part (teaching fitness kind of necessitates exercise hehe!), but my diet could definitely use some MAY-JAH work.

I need to be more conscious of what I'm putting in my body. Sometimes I think, "Whew--that was a great workout--now let's order some pizza!" Big mistake.  I don't want to obsess over food, I just want to eat better to optimize my energy and workouts. Small changes, over time, right?

Some "healthier choices" I've been nomming on this week:

Mmmmm...100 calories and good on baked tortilla chips!

I even got my fiance eating these! Perfect amount of dessert.

My go-to healthy appetizer. Mini Spinach Bread Bowls. You can find the recipe HERE.

My favorite veggie burger. Eat it on salad, tacos...just about anything!

Like having dessert for breakfast or a snack. Light and fluffy mousse-like texture. Strawberry is my personal fav, but the Chocolate flavor tastes like Chocolate Cheesecake!

My goal at the end of the 100-Day Challenge is to be in awesome shape to rock my wedding dress! Girlfriend's gotta show some ARM! :)

I know good and well that a few weeks into any new fitness regimine, it starts to get OLD. It gets harder and harder to go that extra mile. That's when I turn to MUSIC to PUMP IT UP! Here are some recent jams that I'm loving, that will definitely keep you going! I tried to put a little something for everyone. Click the song title to listen on YouTube!

1. Swim Good by Frank Ocean

2. Tonight is the Night by Outasight
(Working on new Zumba choreo for this one!)

3. Kiss Me Slowly by Parachute
(Such a sweet song! Co-written by Lady Antebellum)

4. Sorry for Party Rocking by LMFAO
(Another one that I think I need to get some Zumba choreo for!)

5. Arms by Christina Perri

1. Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye
(Starts slow, but builds momentum. Is it just me or does the lead singer look like Sting?)

2. Tongue Tied by Grouplove
(Was featured on an iPhone commercial...and I fell in love with it!)

3. Say You Like Me by We The Kings

4. Simple Song by The Shins

5. Shake it Out by Florence and The Machine
(This woman has some PIPES. And she really sounds that awesome live!)

Rap/Hip Hop (FYI-Some of these have graphic language so beware):

1. Run by The Knux ft. Kid Cudi
(Sounds like Lennie Kravitz meets Hip Hop)

2. House Party by Meek Mill
(REALLY foul language, but very catchy!)

3. Let's Roll by Yelawolf ft. Kid Rock
(Pretty much infatuated with Yelawolf--it's a bad-boy thang)

4. Right Hand Hi by Kid Sister
(As featured on the Season 3 R.I.P.P.E.D. soundtrack!)

5. Remember The Name by Ft. Minor
(Currently 69 cents on iTunes! Older song, but still gets me moving!)

Question of the Day (QOD):
How do you get motivated to go that "extra mile?" Music? Mental imagery? Will power? The promise of dessert? :)
