List Love: A Monday 5-for-5

It's MONDAY, ya'll! I hope you had just as chill a weekend as I did. Here's a recap in images to kick things off...

On Friday, Wes went out of town on a "bro-cation" (actually, just a drag racing trip with his BFF). Friday is usually our "Bottle of Wine and Frozen Pizza Night", but I was bored as s*%t so I decided to make homemade pizza. I'm really impatient when it comes to making breads, so I found this recipe for a quick yeast crust (Pizza Dough I) from Allrecipes.com.

It was weird because you don't let anything rest or rise--you just knead the crap out of all the ingredients, spread it in a pan and go.

Faster than Emeril Lagasse can say "BAM!"

Because...sometimes you just want a good ol' cheese pizza! Look, I teach fitness, but I also preach indulgence in moderation :) I threw some red pepper flakes in the sauce and topped the pizza with basil, oregano, rosemary, and black pepper.

The crust turned out just OKAY. It was super-bready tasting. It might make some good quicky-garlic breadsticks or something, but it was just a little too thick for my pizza crust tastes. It WAS quick and easy--and that was the point of the recipe. Next time, I might combine the yeast and water for 10 minutes first though.

And for dessert...some Edy's low-fat frozen chocolate brownie yogurt topped with strawberries (*gasp*, what, no raspberries?!?!?!)

On Saturday, I taught TurboKick at our gym's "launch party." It was a blast! We had a good crowd and everyone left pumped and dripping sweat. A good class all around!

I may be a fitness princess, but I'm also a frugal one. I heart second-hand shopping (Goodwill, baby!), so on Saturday, I picked up this little cutie to add to my uber-eccentric collection of porcelain animals (don't worry--not as creepy as it sounds). Are you a bargain shopper, too? :)

By Saturday afternoon, we were all getting a little bored, and ready for Wes to get home...

...except for Bay-Bay--she could occupy herself for hours. Nom nom nom.

As for the Big Lebowski-themed birthday party, I ended up giving Wes my "Dude" costume because he was sunburnt to hell and needed the shades to mask his raccoon eyes. Awww, what a nice girlfriend! NOT.

Any party where they have NINE flavors of Jello shots is an awesome one in my book!

The Birthday Girl made almost 200 jello shots!!! And I'm pretty sure by the end of the night they were all gone. I'm not a huge fan myself, but I thought they looked so pretty--like a boozy rainbow!

Check out this spread of deliciousness. B's three elements of a good party: 1. Booze (check), 2. Music (check) and 3. Food (check ++).

CAUTION: FOOD PORN. Double Chocolate CUPCAKES?!?! YES PLEASE! (I only had one, ya'll--but I could have eaten 10--they were so decadent!)

No Lebowski-themed birthday bash is complete without White Russians...in an Aquaman glass? :)

Aren't we soooo cool? HA--yeah, right. I had to black-and-white this one to hide the EXTREME sunburn on Wes' face :)

Birthday Girl had candles all over her house. Most were in beautiful arrangements on walls or in bowls--like this one. I couldn't have that many candles in my house because I would surely burn it to the ground :)

At the end of the night when everyone was feeling nice and wastey-faced, Birthday Girl, who is a licensed esthetician, busts out her hot wax, and is like "WHO WANTS TO GET WAXED?!?!" Of course, guess who is first in line. Here, Wes is getting waxed by the viking/birthday girl/esthetician. Hehe--see the sunburn on his face and wax burn on his chest?

Sunday, we went to see Inception. As one of my friends put it: "It was a total mind f*&k." Fantastic movie and refreshingly original. I was getting really tired of book, TV, and video-game-inspired blockbusters and this blew all the other summer movies out the water. Great acting, better special effects and, of course, SUPERB eye candy ;)

Joesph Gordon-Levitt...hubba hubba.

Whew--well that was my (crazy?) weekend. To keep the light-hearted trend going...

On Friday, Heather at Where's the Beach, tagged me in a 5-for-5 post, where you give 5 answers to the 5 questions. Since I can't resist a good list, I'm taking on the tag challenge!

1. What was on your to-do list today?
  • Go to Party Step at 9:15am
  • Walk the dogs
  • Sweep and mop the gross kitchen floor
  • Wallow in self-pity over being unemployed
  • Kick myself out of the pity party and apply for two jobs

2. 5 snacks you enjoy?
  • apple slices n' peanut butter
  • 100-calories snack pouches (Nabisco or Kraft)
  • Luna bars and Larabars
  • Trail mix (of any kind!)
  • Just plain 'ol FRUIT (fresh or in a cup)

3. 5 places you have lived?
  • Aiken, SC
  • Charleston, SC
  • Normal, IL
  • (Sorry, I've only lived in three so far...hopefully another one soon!)

4. What you were doing 5 years ago?
  • Finished my freshman year of college at the College of Charleston
  • Declared my major in Mass Media
  • Met my wonderful (pain-in-the-a**?) boyfriend, Wes
  • Worked at Ryan's Steakhouse to make summer money (ironic, for a vegetarian, huh?)
  • Found and joined Facebook (reluctantly--and I thought it was never going to last--HA!)

5. 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?
(I had to think long and hard about this one)
  • Well, first, I suppose I'd have to give my parents the ginormous chunk they are owed for raising and supporting my overly-dramatic a**.
  • Then, I'd give my sister a chunk so she can better support herself as she continues to labor saving kitties and puppies (she's an "Animal Cop," aka animal control officer).
  • Third, I would buy Wes the Mustang car of his dreams. He's a Mustang enthusiast, and it would be worth the money to see him pee his pants in glee.
  • I would buy a house and a boat and live on the coast in Beaufort, SC. Seriously, have you ever been? It's gorgeous and chill. I would do nothing but teach group fitness for a living.
  • I'd fund my way through graduate school and continue on to get my PhD in Communication....in case I felt like teaching instead of bumming off my winnings :)

Now, I'm supposed to tag 5 blogs I want to respond, so here goes...

Q.O.D. (Question of the Day): I LOVE lists and I love learning about other people! What are your 5 answers to the above questions? Leave a comment and answer one or all! :)

Have a maaah-velous Monday, daaahlings!

  1. Yay for Pizza Friday. That pizza looks great. I have a recipe (whole-wheat) that sounds similar in that it only "rises" for like 10 or 15 mins. It's not a bad crust in a pinch though and it works well on the grill. I love lists too....they make me happy.
